Vacant Home In Eden Roc Burns to Ground

An abandoned house in the upper Puna subdivision of Eden Roc burned to the ground early today.
According to Capt. Roger Carvalho of the Keaau fire station, firefighters responding to the scene at 2:19 a.m. found the 20-foot by 30-foot home on Moana Street consumed by the flames.
The fire was reported by neighbors who saw an orange glow and heavy smoke in the area.
The house had a satellite dish attached but appeared vacant, with no utility connections. Neighbors told firefighters they believed the home had been empty lately.
The damage was estimated at $4,000. The cause of the fire has not been determine.
