No Tsunami Threat From Aleutians Earthquake

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 that struck in the Aleutian Islands this afternoon did not generate a Pacific-wide tsunami.
The center based in Ewa Beach, Oahu said the tremor’s epicenter was the Andreanof Islands, at a depth of 25 miles.
The US Geological Survey said the earthquake occurred at 1:40 p.m., Hawaii time.
