Well Operating Again, But Commercial Use Still On Hold

A well providing drinking water for the Ocean View area is operating again, but until the associated reservoir is full, commercial water haulers will need to continue to fill their trucks at standpipes in Naalehu of Hookena.

A spokeswoman for the county Department of Water Supply said the drinking water spigots remain open for community access.

The well which began operations several months ago broke down four days ago.

The department estimated Thursday  that water hauling from the Ocean View facility may be able to resume Monday morning.
