Electrical service will be temporarily shut off early Friday for customers in the O`okala area, the Hawaii Electric Light Co. said today.

The outage will last from midnight to approximately 6 a.m. Friday, the company said.

The affected area extends from the 29-mile marker on Highway 19 to Akasaki Camp, Niu Village, Kukui Village, Milo Village, O`okala Skill Camp Road, O`okala Road and Kawaili`i Road.

The scheduled outage is needed to allow crews to safely carry out repairs to a substation.
