Keaau Woman Allegedly Tried to Cash Stolen Check

Bail was set at $90,000 for a Kea`au woman who was arrested after she allegedly tried to cash a check stolen from a mailbox in the Puna subdivision of Leilani Estates.

Police said Levon Keala Kahee, 32, was charged late Friday with six offenses in connection with an incident that occurred earlier in the day. Police responding to a check-cashing business on Kanoelehua Avenue arrested Kahee for allegedly attempting to cash the stolen check.

She was charged with two counts of forgery, two counts of identity theft and single counts of theft and attempted theft.

Police said Kahee is alleged to have previously cashed a stolen check at the same business.
