Whether it is a sunny summer day or another rainout, the 32nd Hawaiian Cultural Festival will be fun event for the family on July 14.

Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park hosts their annual Hawaiian cultural festival and will feature music, dance and cultural demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Keiki o Hālau o Kekuhi, Hālau Ulumamo o Hilo Palikū, Hula Hālau ‘O Kahikilaulani, Hālau Ha’akea o Kinohi, Mānailehua and Diana Aki will showcase their traditional hula dances and music at this free event.

Cultural practitioners will teach participants about kapa making, lauhala weaving, and feather lei making. There will also be tutorials on creating a native garden and utilizing native plants for medicine.  Play Hawaiian games, weave a coconut basket and make a feather kahili.

Get the flavors of old Hawai’i on your tongue with tastes of taro, sweet potato, sugar cane and breadfruit. There will also be crafts and food available for purchase.

The event will take place near the Volcano Arts Center at the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park in Volcano. Park entrance fees will be waived for this festival.
