The public is invited to a ceremony to be held Monday to dedicate the new Pahoa Senior Center.

The former Pahoa Fire Station has been converted into the center through the efforts of the county Department of Parks and Recreation aided by volunteer apprentices from the Hawaii Carpenters Union.

The senior center, which is located next to the Pahoa Community Center, will provide weekday classes in subjects ranging from foreign languages to dancing. Seniors will also be able to obtain picture identification at the center or sign up for the nutrition program.

Booths showcasing the various services will be set up for the 10 a.m. ceremony which will feature live entertainment and food donated by area businesses.
