An arrest has been made in an early morning robbery at a service station on Kekuanaoa Street in Hilo.

Chase K. Tam, a 24-year-old Hilo resident, was arrested at approximately 12:30 p.m. Friday, approximately 12 hours after taking cash from a service station. According to South Hilo police, Tam demanded money from the service station employee, and brandished a gun during the incident. Tam fled the scene on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of money, and did not injure the worker.

An investigation led to the identification of Tam as the lone suspect in the case, and he was arrested at his residence by police. The suspect has been charged with robbery, two counts of terroristic threatening, shoplifting, and theft. He is being kept at the Hilo Police station while an investigation into the incident continues.
