Local authorities are investigating a reported shooting near the Hawaiian Acres subdivision on Tuesday.

The incident was reported to police by a 47-year-old Volcano man, who said that he was traveling with his family on Road 10 when he heard a gunshot and felt something impact his van. When he realized that one of his van’s windows was shattered, he drove off and called police.

Including the driver, there were six people in the vehicle, and none of them were hurt. The American made van that they were in was recovered by police as part of the ongoing investigation.

Two men were arrested near the scene of the incident. A 68-year-old Hilo man and a 47-year-old Kurtistown male were taken in.
