In Warsaw, Poland in 1995, four passionate musicians created a string quartet that became an international success. On Friday February 10, at the Kahilu Theatre, the Symanowski Quartet will play for an island audience and fill the space with their performance of classical-romantic and contemporary pieces.
The ensemble consists of Andrej Bielow-violin, Grzegorz Kotow-violin, Vladimir Mkytka-viola, and Marcin Sieniawski playing the cello. They are recognized worldwide and have performed in Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and the United States.
They’ve played for appreciative audiences at New York’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Wigmore Hall, the Louvre in Paris, Musikverein in Vienna, and many others.
The quartet have won prizes at prestigious competitions, and among their other accolades, specially received the Symanowski Award of the Karol Symanowski Foundation in 2005, and the Medal of Honor by the Polish Government for their contribution to Polish culture in 2007. Notably, the Symanowski Quartet was the first string quartet to receive the Symanowski Award.
