The following crime statistics were reported by the Hawai‘i Police Department for the North Hilo District for the month of April 2018:

On the Mauka shoulder of Highway 19 near the 21 mile marker in Ninole, a paper bag containing miscellaneous items was taken from the back seat of a vehicle that was parked and driver sleeping. This is a connect up to an Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle investigation.

At a vacation rental on Highway 19 in Ninole, a 66-year-old female reported that she inadvertently left her wallet with contents in the dresser drawer of the master bedroom. Upon checks with the manager, the wallet could not be found.

At a farm on Old Mamalahoa Highway in Ninole, a battery to a gate was removed after the metal lock box was unable to be secured.

At the Laupahoehoe Point Beach Park in Laupahoehoe, the victim reported an unknown suspect removed his two cellphones from his hammock while he was asleep.

At a business on Mamane Street in Honoka‘a, the owner reported two unknown males left the establishment without paying for their meals.

While a vehicle was parked and unattended on Mamane Street in Honoka‘a, unknown suspects entered the vehicle through a partially open window and removed several items without permission. This investigation is a connect up to an Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle master report.

At a business on Mamane Street in Honoka‘a, a 51-year-old male removed several items from the establishment without making an attempt to pay for said items.

At a business on Pakalana Street in Honoka‘a, a 54-year-old male reported selling his wife’s vehicle to a 34-year-old male who paid with a cashier’s check. Upon, attempt to cash said check, the bank informed him the check was not good.

At a ranch on Highway 19 near the 49 mile marker in Honoka‘a, unknown suspects removed two gates, a chain and a lock from a corral.

While the vehicle was parked and unattended on Plumeria Street in Honoka‘a, unknown suspect(s) removed a light bar from the front of the vehicle without permission.

At a business on Lehua Street in Honoka‘a, unknown suspect(s) removed a pedestal box from a docking area without permission.

UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY INTO A MOTOR VEHICLE : 4

On the Mauka shoulder of Highway 19 near the 21 mile marker in Ninole, two unknown male’s approached a parked vehicle where the victim was sleeping within. The males identified themselves as police officers. The victim complied with their instructions. The second male rummaged through the back passenger seat and removed several items before both parties left in a large sized SUV unknown make, model or color heading towards Hilo.

On Old Mamalahoa Highway in Ninole, unknown suspects entered a vehicle parked, unattended and unlock in a covered garage port. A neat search was conducted and a container with several items was removed.

On Ka‘apahu Road in Honoka‘a, After being in a verbal argument, a 49-year-old female reached into a 36-year-old females vehicle and took her cell phone sim card without permission.

On Mamane Street in Honoka‘a, A vehicle that was parked and unattended was entered through a partially opened window and several items removed.

UNAUTHORIZED CONTROL OF A PROPELLED VEHICLE : 1

At a residence on Pa‘auilo Mauka Road in Honoka‘a, a Cadillac SUV was removed without permission after the suspect cut a thick chain link to a gate. The SUV was later found on Mamane Street and recovered. A connect up Criminal Property Damage investigation was initiated for the chain.

CRIMINAL PROPERTY DAMAGE : 4

At a business on Pakalana Street in Honoka‘a, a 20-year-old malepunched and damaged a 71-year-old male’s vehicle after being in a verbal dispute over a parking stall.

At a business on Mamane Street in Honoka‘a, an unknown suspect pried the lock off of a bathroom door causing damage.

At a gated community on Pa‘auilo Mauka Road in Honoka‘a, an unknown suspect damaged the key pad to this subdivision.

At a residence on Pa‘auilo Mauka Road in Honoka‘a, a 25-year-old male cut a chain link in order to remove a vehicle from the residence without permission. This is a connect up to the master report for the theft of said vehicle.

DRUGS: 6

At a residence in the Laupahoehoe area, 43-year-old Don Sato was arrested for several drug related offenses. This after a narcotic search warrant was executed at a residence methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was recovered.

At a business on Pakalana Street in Honoka‘a, was arrested and charged after a 16-year-old male was in possession of marijuana.

ASSAULT: 3

At a business on Old Mamalahoa Highway in Honoka‘a, a 59-year-old male suffered minor abrasions after being shoved to the ground by a 47-year-old male over an argument about a job.

During a mutual fight at business on Pakalana Street in Honoka‘a, a 36-year-old male suffered bruising to his lower back and a 24-year-old male suffered a bruised forehead.
