badgeThe Hawai’i Police Department is investigating a firearms incident in Mountain View that killed a juvenile male.

HPD and Hawai’i County Fire Department medics responded to a report of a BB gun injury to the minor on Friday. Once they arrived to the scene, a residence off of Oshiro Road, they found that the male had actually suffered a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to Hilo Medical Center in critical condition and later placed on life support. He was taken off of life support and pronounced dead the next day.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section have opened a coroner’s inquest.
