A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder following the discovery of an unresponsive female body on Waianuenue Avenue early Friday morning.
According to Captain Robert Wagner of the Hawai’i Police Department, officers received a report of an unresponsive female body found in an entrance way to a business on Waianuenue Avenue in Hilo.
“It appeared that she was the victim of foul play,” Captain Wagner said.
The age and identity of the victim has not been verified, said Wagner, who will study the fingerprints of the victim before notifying next of kin.
Just before 11 a.m. Friday, police arrested Curtis Hodges roughly a block away from the scene. Wagner said that Hodges does not appear to be a Hilo resident. When he was arrested, he was carrying an Illinois state identification card.
Hodges is being processed at the Hilo police cellblock.
