Identity of One Arrested by HPD on Mauna Kea Released

The Hawai’i Police Department arrested a 44-year-old man on Wednesday just after 11 a.m. along the Hawai’i County portion of Mauna Kea Access Road.

According to HPD, the man, identified as Ulises Consuegra, was blocking access to construction workers who were en route to the summit of Mauna Kea to work on the Thirty Meter Telescope.

Ulises was charged with the petty misdemeanor offense of obstructing. He was released after posting $250 bail.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources conducted additional enforcement on the portions of the road owned by the State of Hawai’i. A total number of arrests by DNLR and the identities of those arrested were not immediately available.
