The Board of Education announced a new State Librarian on Wednesday.

Stacey Aldrich will take over the position, which was held by Richard Burns prior to his retirement in December 2014.

Aldrich, who holds a Master of Library Science and has severed as the State Librarian of California, in addition to the Deputy Secretary for the Office of Commonwealth Libraries of Pennsylvania, was a unanimous recommendation of the selection committee.

“Stacy brings a wealth of experience in library leadership and community engagement. She is committed to working with our dedicated staff to reposition our libraries to meet the 21st century needs of our individual communities,” said Board of Education Chairperson Don Horner.
