Military Convoys Scheduled in Hilo Next Week

Military convoys are scheduled next week between Keaukaha Military Reservation in Hilo and Pohakuloa Training Area, beginning on Feb. 5

Hilo-based service members will travel the roads between KMR and PTA on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. The military personnel will then travel the roads from PTA to KMR on Feb. 8 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Roads used during the convoys included Hilo Airport Road, Kanoelehua Avenue, West Puainako Street, Komohana Avenue, Puainako Extension Route 2000, and the Daniel K. Inouye Highway.

The convoys will be escorted by the Hawai’i Police Department.

Motorists driving along the named roadways during the scheduled times are advised to use caution and remain alert.

Army police are working in close contact with local authorities and military units to coordinate this activity in support of unit training.
