UPDATE: Cousins Held Without Bail For Murder
***Updated on Jan. 21.***
Police have charged two Kurtistown men with murder in connection with the disappearance of Dante Peter Gilman.
On Friday, police arrested 19-year-old Kawena K. Krause of Kurtistown. He was later charged with murder, robbery, burglary, theft and firearms charges.
Claude Keone Krause, 30, was arrested on Thursday and charged Saturday with similar offenses.
The two men, who are cousins, were being held Monday without bail.
They are being held in connection with the disappearance of Dante Peter Gilman, 44, of Hawaiian Acres, who was reported to police as missing on Jan. 10. At that time police said Gilman had not been seen since since Dec. 30.
Police said Wednesday that during the course of the missing-person investigation they found information that led them to believe Gilman had been murdered.
His body has not been found.
Gilman is the son of the late Peter Gilman, a former Honolulu Star-Bulletin reporter who wrote the novel “Diamond Head” that rose to the top of the New York Times best-seller list in 1960.
The movie was later made into a movie that starred Charlton Heston.
Peter Gilman died in 1999 at the age of 73.
