Motorists are being advised to be on the lookout for traffic changes taking place along a section of Kawaihae Road during parts of the next eight days to allow for connections for the Lalamilo Water System and associated paving work.

The state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands said a 1,400-foot section of Kawaihae Road at the entrance of the South Kohala Distribution Road, also known as the Waimea Transfer Station Road, will be shifted on Thursday and Friday and again from Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 29-31. The work will be done between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day, and one lane may need to be closed at times.

During those same periods, one lane will be closed on the South Kohala Distribution Road. Access to the transfer station will be maintained.

A DHHL spokesman said the affected areas will be marked by orange construction signs and police officers will be on hand to direct traffic.
