Metal, appliance recycling services closed at some East Hawaiʻi transfer stations

The services are being stopped at the Honokaʻa, Laupāhoehoe, Volcano, Pāhala and Waiʻōhinu stations after Big Island Scrap Metal in Kea‘au, Hawai‘i County’s contracted metal recycling partner, suffered a large industrial fire Wednesday.

Glenwood Transfer Station to close March 25 through May 15

During the Glenwood Transfer Station’s closure period, the Volcano Transfer Station will be open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday until construction is completed.
