New recruitment campaign for corrections officers kicks off in June 2024

The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) is kicking off a new multi-pronged recruitment campaign for adult corrections officers (ACO) beginning Monday, June 10, 2024.

Hawai‘i Island police chief seeks council help to grow department by adding additional positions

Hawai‘i Island Police Chief Ben Moszkowicz is asking the council for 33 temporary police officer I positions, allowing the department to increase the number of recruits they can pay while in training.

Four officer recruits to work at Hawaiʻi Community Correctional Center in Hilo

The 11-week correctional officers training in Hawaiʻi includes more than 400 hours of classroom time and physical training.

State’s Largest Conservation Officer Recruit Class Begins Training

If they all succeed, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement will have an additional 42 officers come next year to beef up its ranks, including some on the Big Island.

83rd Hawai’i Police Department Recruit Class

The recruits have completed six months of intensive training and will now undergo four months of “on-the-job” field training with veteran police officers.
