Party officials say Biden’s decision to step down further displays his commitment and selflessness as a public servant to the country that he loves.

President Joe Biden has announced over $5 billion in new investments in Hawai‘i from his Investing in America agenda – including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act – to advance rural prosperity, economic development, competition and sustainability.

In Maui, the Bidens will be welcomed by state and local leaders to see firsthand the impacts of the wildfires and the devastating loss of life and land that has occurred on the island, as well as discuss the next steps in the recovery effort.

The federal assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, as well as other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the wildfires.

The U.S. Department of the Interior has committed nearly $16 million as part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda to prevent the imminent extinction of Hawaiian Forest Birds.

The potential new National Marine Sanctuary identified in the Presidential Memorandum would conserve 777,000 square miles, including the existing Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument.

U.S. Senator Mazie K. Hirono of Hawaiʻi led 30 of her colleagues in pushing to prevent local and state law enforcement from using federal assistance to surveil or investigate individuals receiving or providing abortion care.
