Update: Flood advisory for North Kona has been cancelled

A flood advisory is in effect for areas in North Kona until 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening.

Update: Flood advisory canceled for portions of leeward Big Island

National Weather Service radar indicated at 6:43 p.m. rain falling at about 1 inch an hour over sections of West Hawaiʻi, with the heaviest rain falling in and around Kailua-Kona.

Rain rates are starting to decrease and should continue to dissipate throughout the evening.

North Kona water restriction downgraded to voluntary conservation notice

Customers in the district are asked to adhere to a voluntary 10% water conservation notice instead of the 25% water restriction, which had been in effect since Aug. 7, 2023.

Flash flood warning for parts of West Hawaiʻi canceled

The National Weather Service in Honolulu reports that heavy rain has ended over portions of the Big Island’s west side that triggered the warning earlier today.
