77-year-old Lowell Pofahl made his initial court appearance Nov. 29, a week after he called police and told them he tried to kill his 77-year old wife, who was later discovered with life-threatening injuries, including a fractured skull, brain bleed and partially amputateed thumb, lying in a pool of blood in the couple’s Nānāwale Estates home.

32-year-old Sonny E. Puerto was found guilty by a jury in July of first-degree electronic enticement of a child as part of Operation Keiki Shield in May 2021, when he was texting an undercover police officer he thought was a 13-year-old girl, asking her for sex and other sex acts.

The 38-year-old was indicted last week and is scheduled to make an initial appearance today in Hilo Circuit Court.

The Puna man pleaded no contest in May on charges of kidnapping and felony abuse of a family member.

27-year-old Cyrus Jabilona of Hilo was sentenced to serve 20 years for attempted manslaughter and 5 years for felony abuse of a family member.

The alleged abuse occurred between 2019 and 2022. The victim was 13 years old at the time.

Cyrus Jabilona, 27, entered his guilty pleas to attempted manslaughter and felony abuse of a family or household member at the Hilo Circuit Court on Monday.

The Court had granted defense counsel’s request to dismiss the charges because the previous indictment did not specifically allege between one or more of the defined forms of “strong compulsion.”

Eric W. Clough, 42 of Volcano, was indicted by a Hilo grand jury earlier this month for receiving nearly a pound of methamphetamine in a package at the Volcano Post Office a year ago.

Cohlby Espaniola, 25 of Mountain View, was sentenced to a 20-year prison term in Hilo Circuit Court for a stabbing and robbery that occurred in 2018 at a residence on Leilani Street in Hilo.
