Flood advisory issued as moderate to locally heavy rainfall soaks parts of East Hawai‘i

Some locations that will experience flooding include Hawaiian Paradise Park, Pāhoa, Hawaiian Acres, Orchidland Estates, Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, Kalapana, ʻĀinaloa, Leilani Estates, Fern Acres, Eden Roc, Fern Forest, Nānāwale Estates, Hawaiian Beaches, Isaac Hale Beach Park and the former Kapoho area.

Big Island Saturday severe weather updates: Flood watch remains in effect with renewed chance for heavy rains throughout state

A heavy rain band potentially reaches Kaua‘i on Sunday night, but that remains rather uncertain; on the other hand, confidence is increasing that the Big Island will remain largely dry.

That advisory was the last advisory, watch or warning to end or be canceled since late last week when the National Weather Service started issuing inclement and severe weather statements and products because of anticipated impacts from what was likely not a “classic” kona low.

Radar showed at about 6:30 p.m. that heavy rain over the area diminished; flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat.

UPDATE: Flood advisory extended through late this afternoon for southeast Big Island

Radar indicated at 1:26 p.m. that heavy rain — still generally falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour, with the heaviest rates between Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and Pāhoa, including portions of Pāhoa-Kalapana Road and Highway 11.

Flood advisory issued for leeward portion of Hawai‘i Island

At 4:16 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain over the leeward Big Island north of Keahole Point. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.

Flood advisory in effect for portion of West Hawai‘i

National Weather Service radar and automated rain gauges indicated at 5:05 p.m. that heavy rain was falling over the lower slopes of North Kona at a rate of up to 1 inch per hour.

Flood advisory in effect for Kaʻu District until 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday

At 4:12 p.m. on Wednesday, radar indicated heavy rain over the southeast areas of the Big Island.

Update: Flood Advisory for Kona has been canceled

Flood advisory issued for portions of North and South Kona

At 3:17 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain over downslope portions of the North Kona District. Rain was falling at a rate of up to 1 inch per hour.

Flood advisory previously issued for portions of North Kona and South Kohala

National Weather Service radar indicated at just before 3 p.m. Friday that heavy rain was falling at a rate of up to 1 inch per hour over locations that included Kailua-Kona, Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport, Captain Cook and Waikōloa, among others.

Flood advisory issued for portions of West Hawai‘i

At 6:08 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.

Update: Flood advisory for North Kona has been cancelled

A flood advisory is in effect for areas in North Kona until 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening.

Heavy rains move through North Hawaiʻi

Flood advisory was issued until early the morning of Jan. 28 for an area including portions of the the Hāmākua Coast and leeward Kohala.
