A flood advisory has been issued for the North and South Kona districts of Hawaiʻi Island through late this afternoon.

The National Weather Service issues a flood advisory when minor flooding is imminent or occurring.

The Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency urges motorists to drive with caution and be alert for runoff, ponding of water, debris, and poor visibility. Do not attempt to cross flowing water in a vehicle or on foot.

Residents in flood-prone areas are asked to remain alert for flooding conditions, and if lightning threatens the area, the safest place to be is indoors.
