Driving a car around West Hawai‘i during Ironman race day, or race days, in this case, is hectic. But it’s not impossible.

With the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona less than a week away, race organizers are scrambling to find volunteers to fill about 4,000 shifts to help care for the approximately 5,000 participants.

After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the VinFast Ironman World Championship is back in Kailua-Kona, with a new two-day race format: the women’s event is on Oct. 6 and the men compete on Oct. 8.

The talk-story sessions are meant to engage and inform the Kailua-Kona community about the first-ever two-day Ironman World Championship race.

IRONMAN confirmed Lange’s departure from the race via a Facebook post just before 9:20 a.m. Saturday.

The VEGA IRONMAN World Championship is well underway, with the competition and the weather both beginning to heat up.

Last year’s IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona was about time. This year, it’s about timelessness.
