Tropical Storm Kiko Weakens, Shifts to WSW Motion

A motion toward the SW or WSW is forecast to occur through Sunday night, followed by a westward to NW motion Monday and Tuesday.

According to NOAA graphics, TS Kiko will cross into the Central Pacific Basin (140 W) sometime Monday.

The center of Tropical Storm Flossie is located near latitude 17.5°N, longitude 139.5°W, about 1,030 miles E of Hilo.

South Point Road is closed. Only residents of South Point Road will have access until further notice.


Issac Hale Beach Park will open tomorrow at 9 a.m. Whittington and Punalu‘u Beach parks will open at 3 p.m. today.

The center of Hurricane Erick was about 265 miles S of Hilo as of 5 p.m. Thursday.

Swells will arrive over the next couple of days, mainly along east-facing shores. Erick is expected to bring heavy rainfall starting Thursday afternoon.
