On the Big Island, registered voters can drop off their ballots at any of the nine drop box locations or at Hawaiʻi County’s two Voter Service Centers in Hilo and Kona.

More representation for Hawai‘i County residents is coming to the State Legislature as an additional House seat was created in January due to the rise in the island’s population, according to the 2020 U.S. Census.

District 2 is the only race left to be decided for the Hawai’i County Council.

The Charter amendments involve creating a Youth Commission, adding two members to the Board of Ethics and giving the County Auditor power to investigate abuse, waste and fraud.

The Hawai’i County Elections Division will begin mailing ballots to registered Hawai’i Island voters for the general election on Oct. 19 and voters should receive them between Oct. 21 and 26.
