A Kona man was being held on $593,000 bail after being charged with more than 20 offenses after allegedly being found in a vehicle with methamphetamine and a loaded handgun.

Police serving a search warrant on a car off Palani Road Wednesday recovered nearly 16 grams of a crystalline substance packaged in amounts consistent with meth distribution, the firearm and several additional rounds of ammunition.

The vehicle’s occupants, 36-year-old Danny Campogan of Kailua-Kona and 27-year-old Natalie Bowling, who has no permanent address, were both arrested. Bowling was later released.

On Thursday, Campogan was charged with meth trafficking, promoting a dangerous drug, drug paraphernalia and 18 firearms-related offenses, including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
