UH-Hilo Women’s Soccer Ranked for Third Straight Week
The University of Hawai`i at Hilo women’s soccer team moved up one spot to seventh in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) / Continental Tire Division II West Region Women’s Soccer poll, which was released Tuesday.
The Vulcans, who are 4-0-1 on the season, earned a rise in the rankings following its third shutout of the season, a 2-0 victory at Chaminade last Saturday.
This is the third consecutive week that UH-Hilo has landed in the NSCAA West Region poll. On Sept. 7, the Vulcans were ranked seventh following two opening-week wins against Cal State San Bernardino and Brigham Young University-Hawai`i.
UH-Hilo did not lose the following week but still dropped to eighth in the following week’s rankings. The Vulcans defeated earned a tie against BYU-Hawai`i and defeated Chaminade at home before the Sept. 14 rankings were unveiled.
UH-Hilo returns to the road Saturday to begin a four-game mainland road trip when they face Point Loma Nazarene. Two days later, the Vulcans visit Cal Baptist. The Lancers are ranked tenth in this week’s poll.
