The 2nd annual Holoku Ball, “Hali`a Ka Nani – A memory of the beauty of the Holoku,” will celebrate the European-inspired dresses of the 19th century like those worn by Queen Liliuokalani.

The Sept. 13 event at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay will feature styles influenced by the royal court during the reign of Kings Kamehameha III and IV and their queens, Kalama and Emma, presented by Na Wai Puna o Kona under the direction of Kumu Keala Ching.

“Adapted from foreign fashions of London and Paris, the gowns with a princess line and sweeping train are a graceful reminder of days gone by, and their place of importance in the history of Hawaiian culture,” said a Na Wai Puna o Kona release.

The night of dinner, dancing and entertainment begins with no-host cocktails at 5:30. Dinner at 7. $75 per person, reserved seating.
