Hilina`i Bookkeeping Opens in Hilo

Hilina`i Bookkeeping and Payroll Services recently opened in Hilo in the Manono Marketplace across from Hawaiian Style Café.

Owner Lynelle Paranada offers bookkeeping, payroll and Quickbooks services to other Big Island companies.

“I handle a lot of small businesses,” said Paranada.

She added that she works with a variety of industries, including construction companies, real estate firms, restaurants, temporary staffing agencies and agricultural businesses.

Born in Honolulu, Paranada’s family moved to Hilo when she was a toddler.

The Hilo High School graduate received a degree in accounting from Central Washington University and worked in a variety of accounting-related positions before moving back to the Big Island a little over three years ago.

She opened her own bookkeeping company shortly after returning to the island.

In Hawaiian, hilina`i means to trust, to lean or rely on.

“I named it that because I handle people’s financial accounts and financial statements,” said Paranada.

Although she has been in business for three years, this is the first public office Paranada has opened. Prior to opening in Manono Marketplace, she ran her business from her home.
