Kai Opua Goes 5-for-5 in A Division Dominance

Kai Opua continued their hold on the Moku O Hawai`i Canoe Racing Association’s A Division with another top finish at Saturday’s Keaukaha Canoe Club regatta, held at Hilo Bayfront.

Kai Opua has finished at the top of the division every week, including the season opening regatta in Kailua-Kona that did not score any points. Kai Opua finished with 218 points, 44 ahead of the hosts from Keaukaha. Puna finished in third.

For the second straight week, Paddlers of Laka took the top spot in the B Division. Laka’s 39 points was 12 better than Hui Wa`a O Waiakea and Na Wa`a Hanakahi, who both finished in a tie for second place.

The fifth official regatta and sixth overall takes place Saturday at Hilo Bay. Puna Canoe Club will host the event.
