UPDATE: Woman Charged in Ainaloa Stabbing
Police have charged a 45-year-old Puna woman with assault and other offenses in connection with Saturday’s stabbing incident in the Ainaloa subdivision.
Police said bail for Heidi Leialoha Lewis was set at $6,000 after she was charged Sunday with first-degree assault and abuse of a family or household member.
In addition to allegedly stabbing him multiple times, police said Lewis also hit the victim, a 31-year-old man, with a broomstick.
Lewis was arrested on Hibiscus Drive.
County paramedics responding to a 5 a.m. call Saturday found the victim sitting on the side of Ainaloa Boulevard with knife wounds to the abdomen and wrist. He has not been identified.
The victim was treated by medical personnel, and was awake and verbally responsive while being taken to Hilo Medical Center.
He was later transported to Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu in critical condition. He was upgraded to serious condition on Sunday.
