The University of Hawai`i at Hilo finished its best season in the program’s short history thanks to two sisters, one who has spent her entire career in the program, and the other who dropped divisions to move closer to home.

Junior transfer Kamie Imai was named to the All-PacWest Second Team as announced by the conference today. The younger of the two sisters led the Vulcans with 11.1 points per game, 113 made field goals, 7.4 rebounds per game, 82 assists, and 22 blocks. She transferred to UH Hilo from Utah State University, where she played limited minutes in her first two seasons.

Senior guard Kirsty Imai, who played all four seasons in a Vulcan uniform, was named to the All-PacWest Honorable Mention list. Kirsty finished behind her sister with 10 points per game, but led the team in conference scoring with 11.3 points per PacWest game. Imai drained a team-high 36 three point shots and also led the team by shooting 84.2 percent from the free throw line.

Grand Canyon’s Judy Jones, a transfer from Division I UT-San Antonio, was named PacWest Player and Newcomer of the Year, while Azusa Pacific’s Kelly Hardeman picked up the conference’s Freshman of the Year award. Hawai`i Pacific University’s Reid Takatsuka was awarded Coach of the Year.
