Hazardous Waste Collections This Weekend in Waimea, Pahoa

The county will hold household hazardous waste collections this weekend in South Kohala and Puna.

The events will be held in Waimea on Saturday and in Pahoa on Sunday. Each will be at the town’s recycling and transfer station.

They are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

The events are only for waste generated in households and brought to the collections by residents.

Business, government agency or farm waste is not allowed. Electronic waste will also be prohibited.

Acceptable household waste includes automotive fluids, used batteries, fluorescent lights and pesticides.

A complete list of acceptable waste, and other information on solid waste diversion and recycling, is available at www.hawaiizerowaste.org.

The next scheduled household hazardous waste events will be held in June in Hilo and Kailua-Kona.
