Man Charged in Kailua-Kona Home Invasion
A Kona man has been charged with a variety of offenses in connection with a home invasion on Feb. 17.
Police officers arriving at an apartment on the 75-5000 block of Lamaokeola Street in Kailua-Kona were told that two men brandishing a handgun and a machete had accosted the apartment’s occupant and another man.
The intruders held the two men down, assaulted them and demanded marijuana and money. They then fled on foot after taking the occupant’s wallet and 10 grams of marijuana.
Police on Feb. 20 arrested 25-year-old Alihilani Stringert, with car theft in an unrelated case. While in custody police determined he was allegedly involved in the kidnapping and robbery.
Stringert, who was described as an acquaintance of the victims, was charged last week with kidnapping, two counts of assault, theft, two counts of robbery, two counts of terroristic threatening and a firearm violation.
The second suspect remains at large.
