A kitchen fire caused about $150,000 in damage at the Waikoloa Village Golf Club early this morning.

Hawaii Fire Department personnel responding to a 6:16 a.m. call found heavy smoke coming from the building.

Because the building was locked, firefighters forced their way through the font door and found a small fire had spread to kitchen’s walls and ceiling.

It took firefighters about a half-hour to extinguish the blaze, after which the building was ventilated.
