Police Seek Help Identifying Credit Card Fraud Suspect
Big Island police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man wanted for multiple instances of credit card fraud, and the theft of over $1,700 in Hilo, Waimea and Pāhoa.
The suspect, described as a local or Hispanic male in his late 20s to early 30s, stands at about 5-foot-9, and is reported to be bald, with a goatee. Police say the man also has tattoos on his neck and left arm.
Police are reminding merchants to follow proper protocol when making credit card transactions, being especially cautious when processing large purchases, and to notify the card issuer if they have any doubts about the validity of the transaction.
HPD is asking that anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or whereabouts call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
