Police Still Unable To Identify Body With SpongeBob Shirt

Police are renewing their request for the public’s assistance in identifying a man whose partially decomposed body was found July 19 in a West Hawai`i park.

The middle-aged homeless Caucasian man discovered at Higashihara Park in Keauhou Mauka was between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11. He was believed to have frequented the nearby Honalo and Kainaliu areas as well as Kealakekua.

He was shoeless and wearing blue jeans and a blue T-shirt depicting a SpongeBob SquarePants character and the words “It’s Hip To Be Square.”

The cause of death has not been determined.

Police have received numerous tips from the public but none of those have panned out.

Anyone who knows of a person fitting that description who is unaccounted for is asked to call Det. Walter Ah Mow at 326-4646, Ext. 238.
