Homeless Man Charged in Attempted Burglary

Police have charged a homeless man for allegedly attempting to break into a Pepe`ekeo home on Monday.

A Pepe`ekeo resident called police at 7:40 a.m. after he observed a man trying to force open a window on a neighbor’s house, police said.  The suspect fled after seeing that he was being watched.

Shortly after noon, police arrested 54-year-old Ralph Curtis Riveira, a former resident of Pepe`ekeo. Riveira was charged on Tuesday with attempted first-degree burglary. His bail was set at $25,000.
