Daniel Expected to Bring Showers, Waves
A high surf advisory was issued today for east-facing shores of the Big Island as Tropical Depression Daniel approaches.
This morning the storm was located about 900 miles east of Hilo and moving west at 15 mph. It had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.
The National Weather Service reported that Daniel was expected to pass south of the Big Island late Thursday or early Friday.
A showery band of clouds moving out ahead of Daniel was expected to reach the windward areas of the Big Island beginning around midnight, the weather service said, with showers expected to continue through Friday.
Winds will also strengthen Thursday through Saturday as the remnants of Daniel’s low-pressure system passes by.
