An uncooperative cashier apparently foiled an attempt to rob a Kailua-Kona gas station Wednesday night.

Police said a young Caucasian man carrying a handgun entered the Lako Street Chevron station shortly before midnight and demanded money from the 46-year-old cashier.

The man fled when the cashier refused to hand over the cash.

Police said the suspect had a fair complexion and was in his late teens to early 20s and weighed between 150 and 160 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, shoes, shoes and mirrored sunglasses.
