Hawaiian Electric launches ALOHA Collection bag to raise money for local United Way agencies
Sales of the limited-edition collection end Nov. 16 and supplies are limited.
Hawaiian Electric and ALOHA Collection have teamed up to offer an exclusive, custom-made bag to raise funds for local United Way agencies.
The lightweight, water-resistant bag features the utility’s purple logo interwoven with a rose-and-pikake floral design, a news release said.
The day tripper bag retails for $76. The bag and small pouch for makeup or electronics are $99. Shipping is extra.
A limited supply of bags are available at hawaiianelectric.com/ALOHA collection until Nov. 16. Proceeds will benefit Aloha United Way, Hawaiʻi Island United Way and Maui United Way.
The idea for the fundraiser came from Tatiana Quong, a senior business solutions consultant in Hawaiian Electric’s operations training area and fan of the popular ALOHA Collection brand. Quong worked with the retailer to incorporate the utility’s logo in the custom-made design.
Hawaiian Electric’s logo was created in 2013 by Hilo artist Sig Zane, his wife, Nalani, and their son Kuhaʻo. The elements of the logo are called “Kahikuonālani” and honor King Kalākaua, the seventh sovereign, who brought electricity to ʻIolani Palace in the 1880s. His vision led to the formation of Hawaiian Electric in 1891.
