Hawai‘i Island police are investigating a murder after discovering the body of a 34-year-old woman in Kailua-Kona.

Kona patrol officers responded to the 74-0000 block of Ane Keohokalole Highway at 9:35 p.m. on Oct. 27 after receiving a report about an unresponsive woman, later identified as Aureole Waikiki, 34, of Kailua-Kona. Because foul play was suspected, detectives from Hawai‘i Police Department’s Area II Criminal Investigation Section responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

An autopsy conducted on Friday, Oct. 30, resulted in the medical examiner ruling Waikiki’s death a homicide.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Detective Bradley Llanes of the Area II Criminal Investigation Section at 808-326-4646, extension 3268, or by email at bradley.llanes@hawaiipolice.gov.

Police also encourage anyone who wishes to remain anonymous to contact Crime Stoppers at 808-961-8300. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
