UPDATE: Previously closed portion of Palani Road in Kona open to all traffic

Update at 5:48 p.m. Oct. 10, 2026: Hawai‘i Police Department reports that Palani Road in Kona, near the 36-mile marker between Highway 180 and Hao Kuni Street, is again open to all traffic.

The roadway was previously closed following a traffic crash.

Originally published 5:03 p.m. Oct. 10, 2026: Hawai‘i Police Department advises motorist to AVOID Palani Road near the 36-mile marker for at least the next hour in Kona.

Both lanes of traffic are closed, between Highway 180 and Hao Kuni Street, because of a traffic crash.
