POLICE: Kohala Mountain Road closed

Hawai‘i County Civil Defense reports Hawai‘i Police Department says dangerous driving conditions caused by high winds resulted in the closure of several miles of Kohala Mountain Road (Highway 250), between Waimea and Hāwī in the northern part of the Big Island, starting near Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy in Waimea.

Motorists are urged to use alternate routes. Authorities will notify the public as conditions change.
