Hawaiʻi County planning director initiates interim General Plan 2045 amendments
Hawaiʻi County Planning Director Jeff Darrow initiated interim amendments to the county’s 2045 general plan, adopted June 26.
The amendments are being initiated pursuant to the County Charter and Planning Department Rule 4.

Interim amendments propose targeted updates to Hawaiʻi County General Plan 2045 for clarification of policies, address public and agency testimony, strengthen implementation and make minor corrections.
Hawaiʻi County Council and members of the public can comment on the proposed amendments during a 45-day comment period ending Oct. 19. Darrow will submit the proposed amendments following comments review and through Hawaiʻi County Planning Commission to County Council.
Copies of the proposed amendments are available at Hawaiʻi County Planning Department offices in Hilo and Kona as well as online.
