Waimea hospital welcomes new doctor at Women’s Center
Queen’s North Hawai‘i Community Hospital welcomes Dr. Jon “Sione” Hathaway to its Women’s Center.

Hathaway received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brigham Young University in Utah. He received his medical degree and PhD from University of Cincinnati in Ohio, completing his obstetrics and gynecology residency at Sparrow Hospital at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich., and general surgery and urology internship at Albany Medical Center in New York.
He is board-certified from American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, with focused practice designation in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
Hathaway also is a fellow of American College of Surgeons and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
The doctor brings 20-plus years of experience as an OB-GYN, working at Indiana University Hospital, a campus within the IU Health University Hospital network, in Indianapolis, Ind.
Hathaway is now a professor of clinical obstetrics and gynecology at Indiana University School of Medicine and regularly teaches and performs gynecological surgery at Lyndon B. Johnson Tropical Medical Center in American Samoa.
He enjoys running, triathlons scuba diving and surfing in his free time.
