Monthly meeting of Kūpuna Watch in Puna scheduled at beginning of week
Hawaiʻi Police Department Puna Community Policing Section will host its monthly Puna Kūpuna Watch meeting at the beginning of this week.

The next meeting of the free outreach program is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon July 13 at the ʻĀinaloa Longhouse Center, located at 16-0303 ʻĀinaloa Boulevard, in Pāhoa.
Kūpuna Watch — which is particularly geared toward seniors — is designed to promote safety, strengthen communication between police and residents and support efforts to keep neighborhoods safe.
Officers during the meetings share crime and traffic trends, raise awareness about reporting elder abuse as well as discuss ways to recognize and prevent financial and internet-related crimes.
Community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions and take part in this informative gathering.
The Puna meetings build on the success of similar meetings launched last fall in Kona.
